About
Since time immemorial, the wish to keep looking young forever has led to research throughout the cultures. Many traditional remedies have been prescribed but with limited success.
The common signs of anti-aging, such as wrinkles, loose or sagging skin, greying and thinning of hair, etc. have continued to be a major cause of worry over the centuries.
As you grow old, the skin produces lesser natural oil, making your skin drier and less supple. The fatty tissues under the skin are also depleting, making your skin look thinner. You are more prone to get skin tags and aging spots. Wrinkles appear first at fine lines and then deepen as time passes.
The production of collagen and elastin also slows down making the skin look a bit flabby, with sacs under some facial areas.
The good news is that advancement in technology and modern research has found solutions to most of these issues and brought them under the umbrella of ‘Anti-aging solution’ in Dermatology.
At Kiara Skin Clinic, we take your wish seriously and have adopted all the latest technologies to make anti-aging solutions, customized to your goals, available to you.
Please feel free to consult our dermatologist to know more about the best options tailored to your anti-aging needs.
Delaying aging
Before we list our anti-aging procedures, here are a few tips to delay the aging process.
- Avoiding exposure to direct sunlight.
- Give up smoking
- Drinking plenty of water
- Avoiding hot baths, use warm water instead to prevent drying.
The above tips only help delay the skin aging process. Once the skin starts catching up with age, we have to resort to other methods that we’ll happily inform you about here.
The following are the anti-aging procedures we offer:
Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy involves injecting very small amounts of the solution of enzymes, vitamins, and natural extracts just below your skin to help tighten skin among other benefits.
Mesotherapy is called that as it injects solutions to the middle layer (mesoderm) of the skin. This is a useful therapy as it corrects the underlying causes of skin damage such as insufficient circulation and inflammation.
Procedure
For a week before the procedure, you will be required to discontinue aspirins since they may cause bruising.
At the time of the appointment, your skin may or may not be anesthetized. The doctor will inject one or more likely a series of injections at different depths in the skin for maximum effect.
Between 3 -15 sessions are usually required to achieve the desired result.
Chemical peel
Chemical peel treatment involves exfoliating the outer layer of your skin with a solution of chemicals that blister the skin. This layer then peels off to expose the inner layer which is new and hence comparatively more youthful.
Skin tightening
Skin tightening procedures can help firm up loose skin. They instantly give a more youthful appearance as against the flabby sagging skin. Skin tightening procedures typically involve laser therapies such as radiofrequency therapy, surgical procedures such as surgical lifts or skin grafting, etc.
Botox
Botox, when injected in very small amounts, under the skin, paralyzes the muscles and breaks the neural connection that causes the muscles to contract. This makes the muscles more supple giving the impression of reduced fine lines and wrinkles.
Fillers
Dermal Fillers are another non-invasive procedure that has been successfully used by many to improve the appearance of their skin, mostly facial but also on hands, etc. Unlike Botox, fillers, as the name suggests, fill up the wrinkles, lines and other sags, etc. to plump up the required area. One or a combination of substances is used as fillers and is injected below the skin.
Laser
Laser therapy is a popular way of enhancing the appearance of the skin- facial or otherwise.
As against the so-called ‘skin firming products’ available in the market, laser therapy is effective in smoothening the wrinkles on the skin. Again a non- invasive method, it penetrates the outer layers of the skin and activates the inner cells often also reactivating collagen production in the process. The laser is also a no-mess procedure, clean and short with almost instant results.
Most of the procedures given above are temporary and need repeated sessions. The effects usually fade out over time. Please consult our dermatologist to explore all the available options and to find out what suits you the best.
