So what is Botox? It is short for botulinum toxin, a naturally occurring toxin with many uses in medicine when used in the prescribed doses. It also comes by the brand names Dysport and Xeomin.

What Botox does when injected in very small amounts is to paralyze the muscles and break the neural connection that causes the muscles to contract. This makes the muscles more supple giving the impression of reduced fine lines and wrinkles.
